USB-IF Conformity to IEC 62680 (USB) Specifications

With the onset of the EU legislation defining mandatory requirements for all Portable Battery Powered devices and External Power Supplies (EPS), which takes effect January 01, 2025, except for Laptop PC’s which will take effect in 2026. Based on the legislation there is an immediate need by OEMs to provide documentation that demonstrates their product(s) conform to the basic requirements of the EU Common Charger Directive. The directive applies to and is focused on the following IEC 62680 (USB) categories: Portable Battery Powered devices and is focused on the following IEC 62680 (USB) categories, USB Type-C® receptacle(s),  USB Type-C cable & connectors (disallows the sale of captive cables in the EU), EPSs and the USB Power Delivery (USB PD) protocol for devices advertising more than 15 Watts. The USB-IF Conformity to the IEC 62680 (USB) Specifications program is a new program to provide OEMs with the documentation they need as a source of verification to the EU that product conforms to the IEC 62680 (USB) Specifications.
